1. Survey on IT Services

ITU has conducted "Survey on IT Services" for staff and students from 13 to 27 April 2012. 50 staff and 631 students have completed the surveys. The feedbacks provide us a solid ground for reviewing our services. ITU would like to express our sincere thanks to all staff and students who responded to the surveys and provided valuable feedbacks.

2. Migration of Student E-mail to Outlook Live Platform

In order to enhance the student email services, ITU has been working with Microsoft to migrate existing Live@edu student email accounts to Outlook Live Platform since early this year. Please note some points in this migration exercise:

How to verify migrated email contents and contacts ? During 18 May to 1 June 2012, you can access to http://www.outlook.com to verify the migrated emails and contacts, should you find any problem, please contact our helpdesk at once. If you check and find everything is fine, please keep using http://webmail.cpce-polyu.edu.hk for sending and receiving email until our further notice.

How to migrate calendar information, e-mail forwarding and contact categories ? As these items cannot be migrated automatically, please refer to our FAQ and Outlook Live user guide at CPCE Portal (http://portal.cpce-polyu.edu.hk) for setup details.

When should I start using www.outlook.com ? We expect the migration process will complete by early June 2012 and you will be informed when the new system is ready to use.

Thank you for your patience with this transition. Should you have any questions, please contact ITU at 3746-0818 / 3746-0819 or email to pfitoper@cpce-polyu.edu.hk.

3. Charging Cabinet Checking Exercise

ITU shall perform checking exercise for notebook computer cabinet in HHB and WK on earlier June. Notice will be put on locked cabinets and remind users to clear the cabinets before 8 June 2012. Any items left in the cabinet after the aforesaid date will be disposed of without further notice.

Your co-operation and attention to this exercise is appreciated.

4. Staff Only : Closing Down of PolyU Campus Email Account

It is a gentle reminder to CPCE staff that PolyU ITS will close down PolyU campus email system (@polyu.edu.hk) on 31 May 2012.

Currently, CPCE colleagues should be using the Outlook email accounts provided by CPCE ITU (i.e. @cpce-polyu.edu.hk or @hkcc-polyu.edu.hk or @speed-polyu.edu.hk). However, some colleagues may be still using the two email accounts provided by PolyU ITS to us many years ago i.e. PolyU Campus email account (@polyu.edu.hk) and Groupwise email account (@inet.polyu.edu.hk). As advised by PolyU ITS, these two email accounts will phase out by two stages in the coming months and the current data will be migrated to the new PolyU staff email system (i.e. Microsoft Office365 email system) eventually.

Stage 1: Closing down of PolyU Campus email account

With effect from 31 May 2012, the PolyU Campus email account (@polyu.edu.hk) will be closed down permanently for data migration to the new PolyU staff email system. Senders who have sent emails to the PolyU Campus email account on or after 31 May 2012 will be notified by an automatic reply message that the email account is invalid.

Stage 2: Closing down of Groupwise email account

Subsequent to the migration of the PolyU Campus email, ITS will then undertake data migration of the Groupwise email account (@inet.polyu.edu.hk) to the new PolyU staff email system around late June 2012 and users can continue to use Groupwise during the migration period. The Groupwise email account will be closed down permanently when data migration is completed and the exact date will be announced in due course.

Please note that the above-mentioned data migration to the new PolyU staff email system will only be applicable to PolyU staff and NOT including CPCE staff. In this connection, colleagues still using the two PolyU email accounts and are advised to back-up their important emails for future reference, should you need assistance, please contact ITU at 3746-0818 / 3746-0819 or email to pfitoper@cpce-polyu.edu.hk.
