Students
Software update of Online Teaching Tool
There are various feature / security update of Online Teaching Tool, e.g., MS Teams and Zoom, during last months. Students are reminded to update related tools to enjoy new features and security enhancement for your lessons.

How to join the Microsoft Teams meeting? How can I take attendance in Moodle? Where can I find the user guide of Microsoft Teams? You can find the answers in FAQs for online teaching (Students) in https://itu.cpce-polyu.edu.hk

Reset Password
According to CPCE password policy, student has to change password every 395 days. Year 2 student is strongly advised to changed password at CPCE Portal ( https://portal.cpce-polyu.edu.hk ) ASAP to minimize inconvenience of failing to join online lesson due to password expiry.

Profile Picture
As announced by HKCC / SPEED, there will be a default profile picture updated to student account if there isn’t a picture previously. Student may login the account to review the profile picture.

Attendance record
Attendance taking will be done online. Please follow lecturer’s instruction about attendance taking of individual subject and consult subject lecturer for enquiry.

Teaching Staff
Video Guides to online teaching
To facilitate colleagues to recall important steps of online teaching, there are new video guides covering basic steps, e.g., sending appointment, basic operation of teams, as well as new features, e.g., whiteboard in Teams and Zoom, made available in IT support page, https://it-support.cpce-polyu.edu.hk . Colleagues are welcome to visit the page for further information.

Enhancement in teaching venue for online teaching
There is an enhancement in teaching venues of HHB and WK campus during summer that lecturer can conduct online teaching in teacher PC of lecture theatre, general teaching room and labs. There is webcam installed and lecturer use their own headset / earphone for communicating with students.

2. CPCE IT Mega Sales

ITU is pleased to announce CPCE Mega Sales has started. There are 7 brands, including Apple, Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and Samsung this round. Interested student and staff can visit IT Products Mega Sales page inside CPCE portal https://portal.cpce-polyu.edu.hk for offering details.

3. Reminder : Update of AV System in HHB Campus

User is reminded there is AV enhancement work in HHB campus during summer and a change of notebook connection. Details are as follows,

Notebook connection in WK campus remains unchanged.

4. New Features of Moodle

ITU is pleased to introduce the following new features at Moodle E-Learning system.

Attendance Module
The Attendance activity allows teachers to maintain a record of attendance, replacing or supplementing a paper-based attendance register. Teachers can setup a series of attendance sessions and export the report for all sessions in one click. You may find details here.

Word Import Module
This plugin allows users import the entire contents of a Word 2010 (or later) file as clean HTML, retaining formatting such as headings, lists, bold and italic. You can find a new icon at the editor of all text area.


Completion Progress Block
The Completion Progress block is a time-management tool for teachers to overview the student progress by visual representation. You can find a new block at the right-hand side of the course page, and view the details by clicking the “Overview of students”
