2. HHB IT Lab Upgrade (Staff Only)
There will be PC upgrade exercise in HHB IT lab in coming summer. Together with upgrading Windows from Windows 7 to Windows 10, there are software needed to upgrade on compatibility consideration.
Most software will be upgraded to latest version together with hardware upgrade, except Microsoft office that we will keep office 2016 until further announcement.
For details of software version update, please refer to software inventory list in CPCE Portal (portal.cpce-polyu.edu.hk)
ITU has started to contact related academic colleagues for details of software upgrade. In the meantime, you are welcome to contact

4. 3D Printing - Availability of New Materials
It is to announce two new materials (TPU and Carbon-reinforced ABS) for F370 FDM 3D printer are ready to use.
TPU : TPU 92A is a thermoplastic polyurethane with a Shore A hardness value of 92. The material exhibits high elongation, superior toughness, durability and abrasion resistance.
TPU 92A brings the benefits of elastomers to FDM 3D printing and offers the capability to quickly produce large and complex elastomer parts.
Typical applications include flexible hoses, tubes, air ducts, seals, protective covers and vibration dampeners.
Carbon-reinforced ABS : ABS-CF10 is a type of ABS filament with the addition of chopped carbon fibers.
The result is 3D printing material that combines the toughness and impact resistance of ABS with the strength and rigidity of carbon fiber.
It’s more than 50% stiffer and 15% stronger than standard ABS, making it an option offers a lighter alternative as a replacement for metal tooling right applications.

6. Reminder: Note to Students Who Will Graduate or Leave From HKCC / SPEED
Please note that the following IT services will be terminated after you graduate or leave from HKCC / SPEED:
- Student email account
- Microsoft OneDrive bundled with student email account
- Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus applications (Microsoft Office / Mac Office) offered via student email account
- Print quota account
- Student Notebook Loan Service
- Campus Wi-Fi service, including Eduroam
- Moodle
- Campus PC / other systems login
- Access to Student Computer Centre
Reminder:
- Please backup data/files from the above systems if you need to keep them before graduation in order to prevent inconvenience and /or data loss.
- Remaining balance in print quota account is non-refundable and non-transferrable at any time.
- Should you have outstanding debit note for student notebook payment, you must settle it before graduation.
- You may consider purchasing the Microsoft products at Microsoft Store if you wish to continue using them after leaving HKCC / SPEED.
- You can only access Transcript request feature in my.HKCC / my.SPEED after graduation
- You are also recommended to observe email announcement from PolyU Alumni Affairs and Development Office about the provision of lifelong PolyU alumni email account and OneDrive online storage.
