Dr. Jason Chan, JP, Head of Information Technology of CPCE has been awarded the Medal of Honour (MH榮譽勳章) by the HKSAR Government on 1 July 2021, in recognition of his dedicated and valuable contribution to the development of information technology and property management industry.

On this happy occasion, we are sure you would like to join us in extending congratulations to Jason for this important honour.

2. Senior Concurrent Appointments

Dr. Jason Chan, MH, JP, Head of Information Technology has been appointed as Assistant Dean (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) [Asst Dean(IE); 助理院長(創新及創業)] on 1 July 2021. Reporting to the Dean, Dr Chan’s main responsibilities are as follows:

1. strengthen support for innovations and technology in CPCE
2. enhance support for nurturing entrepreneurship amongst CPCE students
3. strengthen cooperation among internal and external stakeholders and create greater synergy in R&D and knowledge transfer matters
4. promote commercialization of CPCE staff and students’ R&D results
5. seek external funding

3. Big Data Lab – New Website

It’s time to think big and actualise our brilliant research ideas. With the launch of Big Data Lab in December 2020, we have just setup a new dedicated website https://bdl.cpce-polyu.edu.hk/ in order to provide comprehensive services. Please take a look and tell us what you need.

4. Reminder on Student Email Account Migration

It is a gentle reminder that email accounts on @student.hkcc-polyu.edu.hk and @student.speed-polyu.edu.hk are migrated to @common.cpce-polyu.edu.hk in June already. If you still haven’t setup / login your @common account, please follow steps in the following guide ASAP.

5. Reminder on HHB IT lab Upgrade (Staff Only)

It is a gentle reminder about HHB IT lab upgrade as follows,

1. Colleagues are reminded to observe Software Inventory in CPCE Portal (https://portal.cpce-polyu.edu.hk) about software version in new environment.
2. As update job in most labs are completed, colleagues are suggested to carry testing in IT labs at your convenience, for general software environment and software setting, e.g., server path location. ITU will follow up cases according to reporting sequence.
3. Please inform ITU ASAP if there is any missing software request.

6. MLM Tips - How to Create a Campaign in MLM that will be Sent to CPCE FT/HT Academic Staff Only? (Staff Only)

Mailing List Management (MLM) facilitates user in sending broad-based messages to staff, students or external recipients in an efficient and effective way. The MLM system enables authorized users to conveniently manage their mailing lists and, as required by the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Ordinance (UEMO), the un-subscribed opt-out lists. It also provides different types of statistical report and analyses information.

To create a campaign in MLM that will be sent to CPCE FT/HT academic staff only, simply follows the 4 steps below:

1. Select “Customer Segment” then move your mouse over the blue line and then the + sign
2. Create an “And” Group for the “Include customers who match following conditions”
3. Select the “CPCE All Staff” Tag in the “And” Group

4. Add Demographic then select “Category” is “T” (Please refer to appendix B of MLM User Guide for details of demographic information)

7. Reminder : TempCloud Data Housekeeping Exercise (Staff Only)

It is a reminder that the TempCloud data housekeeping exercise will be commenced soon. All files in the archive folder will be deleted by the end of the 20/21 academic year i.e., 29 Aug 2021.
