1. Termination of SPEED @student.speed-polyu.edu.hk Student Account

It is to remind termination date of SPEED student email account (xxxxxxxxSU@student.speed-polyu.edu.hk / xxxxxxxxBU@student.speed-polyu.edu.hk ) as follows

Please note all data of the email account will be deleted along with account termination. You must migrate data before the deadline. Deleted data is not recoverable.

2. Saving Location of MS Teams Class Recording (Staff Only)

Lecturer is reminded saving location of class recording as follows

Channel meeting (e.g. school data sync) : the recording will be stored in a Recordings folder in the Files tab for the channel. The Files tab stores all files in a SharePoint site and document library for the channel. Everyone who is a part of the channel will have permission to edit and view the recording.

Non-channel meeting (e.g. meeting appointment by outlook) : the recording will be stored in the Recordings folder in the OneDrive directory of the person who started the recording.

3. Apple Pencil Charging (Lecturer Only)

Colleagues are reminded to charge Apple Pencil regularly, e.g., at least 1 month a time, to minimize running out of battery of Apple Pencil. There is online reporting in Apple user forum about Apple Pencil battery failure after prolonged period of run out of battery.

4. Submission Deadline of Mega Sales

It is a friendly reminder to observe deadline of Mega Sales deadline. Most brand will end order submission by October. In the meantime, user is reminded to visit Mega Sales page to observe actual deadline of individual brand.

5. Tips from Big Data Lab : Free Data Sets

There are free data sets available online. Researcher and student are welcome to search online, and visit provider site if the data is suitable for their project use.

6. Tips on Downloading Blocked Files from Microsoft Edge

There are reports that some types of files, e.g., .msg (Outlook email) are blocked by Microsoft Edge from downloading and user will encounter the following error message when trying to download blocked file

FILE_NAME.EXTENSION was blocked because this type of file can harm your device.

There are 2 solution if encountering the issue

1. Use other browser, e.g., Chrome
2. Using Microsoft Edge
   1. click … of blocked .msg file and select “copy download link”
   2. open a new tab and place the link to start download
   3. This time downloaded file will not be blocked / deleted
