1. Microsoft Bing Chat – a GenAI tool powered by ChatGPT for Students in Student Computer Centres

Microsoft Bing Chat, a generative AI tool powered by ChatGPT 4.0 (GPT-4), is installed in all PCs in student computer centres.

With Microsoft Bing Chat powered by GPT-4, you can:

  • Ask Bing any question and get instant and relevant answers from the web, news, images, videos, and more.
  • Switch between three modes: Balanced, Creative, and Precise, to suit your needs and preferences.
  • Enjoy a positive, polite, empathetic, interesting, entertaining, and engaging chat experience with Bing.

Please communicate with your subject lecturers first before using any GenAI tools in your study.

2. Blackboard AI Design Assistant (Staff only)

ITU is pleased to introduce a new feature that has been added to our Blackboard Learning Management System - AI Design Assistant. This tool, powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI, is designed to assist in creating materials, learning modules, rubric, testing questions.

Here are key features of the Blackboard AI Design Assistant,

  • Course structure suggestions
  • Rubric generation
  • Test question generation
  • Question Bank generation from Ultra Documents


There is a Blackboard document about recommended use cases, reminder and FAQ of the tool Blackboard Learn AI Design Assistant.(Use Microsoft Edge if encountering error to access)

3. Turnitin AI Writing Detection

It is to remind that Turnitin, the plagiarism detection software in Blackboard, has recently been updated with AI writing detection capabilities. This means that Turnitin can now identify when AI writing tools such as ChatGPT have been used in student submissions. A score will be given on likewise of AI writing and the information is only available for lecturer’s information.

Please note the use of AI writing tools is only permitted with the permission of your subject lecturer. Please ensure that you have obtained permission before using any AI writing tools in your assignment.

4. Blackboard Q&A session (Staff only)

Recording and written responses of Blackboard Q&A session are available at IT support page (https://it-support.cpce-polyu.edu.hk) - > Blackboard -> Training Video Recording. Colleagues are welcome to visit the page on session video and Blackboard Staff written reply to colleagues’ questions submitted to online form before.
