1. Tip of Connecting a Yahoo!Mail, Hotmail, or Gmail Account to your Student Email Account

Do you want to read inbox/sent items of your Yahoo!Mail, Gmail in your student email account? If yes, a feature 'New Account Connection' in your student email account can help you. Please follow two steps below to enable this feature:

Step 1: Turn on POP or IMAP in your personal email (e.g. Yahoo!Mail or Gmail)
For Gmail users:

Step 2: Setup 'New Account Connection' in your Student email account (i.e. 12345678A@hkcc-polyu.edu.hk or 12345679S@speed-polyu.edu.hk). After logon your student email account, Click "Options" > "Account" > "New" under "Connected Accounts"

2. Reduce the Size of Your PowerPoint Files

You can easily decrease file size of your PowerPoint with lots of pictures in just a few clicks. Eventually the size of your files may be 50%~90% smaller, depending on the resolution of the original pictures. Here shows you the quickest way in Office 2010.

1. Open your PowerPoint files

2. Click "File Menu" and then "Save as"

3. In the save dialog box, click the "Tools" drop down menu

4. Select "Compress Pictures..."

5. Select "E-mail (96 ppi)" for minimizing the pictures' resolution

6. Click "OK"

7. Save your presentation to a new file name unless you don't want to keep the original file

8. Click "Save"

3. Looking for Power Outlet? Use Notebook Computer Charging Cabinet!

You may have collected your notebook computer purchased in IT Mega Sales and start to use it in your college life. While battery life of notebook computer improves due to the use of new processor technology, you may still found battery life not enough, especially when you use it from morning till night.

It is a gentle reminder from ITU that notebook computer charging cabinet is setup in HHB 3/F and WKS-1/F with 70 and 54 power outlets respectively. Students are welcome to use this facilities with pad lock provided themselves. Rules and regulation is listed in the following link,

4. Using Moodle: Distribute Students' Grades Individually

If you are looking for a way to announce students' assessment grade so students can check their result easily and securely, you may try Moodle's gradebook feature. With access control of Moodle, its gradebook feature allows student to view their individual grade only which can highly protect data privacy and announce assessment grades efficiently.
