1. Staff E-mail Service will be migrated to Microsoft Office 365 Soon

As announced in the last ITU newsletter, staff e-mail service will be migrated to Microsoft Office in the 1st quarter of 2014. In order to have a smooth migration, minimize the time required for transferring data to Office 365 and reduce the interruption of the email service during moving the user’s mailbox to Microsoft Office 365, user is strongly recommended to setup and perform auto-archive of your mailbox in the Outlook Client ASAP.

User could follow the Mircosoft Outlook 2010 auto-archive User Guide in CPCE Portal to perform the auto-archive. We recommend the following settings for the user when setting up the auto-archive:

Run auto-archive every 7 days
Clean out and archive items older than 3 months

ITU will announce the migration schedule and the detailed migration arrangement later. In the meantime, user is welcome to contact ITU helpdesk at 3746-0818 (HHB) / 3746-0819 (WK) for further enquiries.

2. IT Product Mega Sales Roadshow Event

It is pleased to announce the following roadshow events for IT product Mega Sales for semester 2.

Round 1 : 13-14 Feb, Foyer, 2/F, South Tower, WK
Round 2 : 17-19 Feb, Student Display Area, UG, HHB

Students and staff are welcome to visit above events. In the meantime, online ordering can be placed via vendor's online ordering system. Please visit IT Product Mega Sales link in CPCE Portal for details.

3. Training for Turnitin™ on Moodle

In accordance with the PolyU's policy on promoting academic integrity, CPCE has subscribed to Turnitin™ as a tool to perform plagiarism detection and prevention service which is widely used in educational institutions worldwide.

One of the powerful features of Turnitin is Originality Check (http://turnitin.com/en_int/features/originalitycheck), it allows teachers to check students' work for improper citation or potential plagiarism. After integration of Turnitin into CPCE Moodle by mid of January 2014, teachers can simply create a "Turnitin assignment" and access Turnitin features directly in Moodle.

A series of training on Turnitin for staff have been carried in January. More sessions are available in February during and after Lunar New Year Break. Staff and students please login CPCE Portal, then select "IT Training Registration" to register the workshops.
