ITU is pleased to announce preparation for Mobile Teaching is in good progress. Tablet PCs (iPad / iPad Mini) have been delivered to CPCE campus after continuous effort of ITU colleagues for working with related counterparts. We are entering another stage that Apple TV (Wireless screen receiver) is to be installed in teaching venues between July and August. Meanwhile we are working with software vendors to deliver and install application on the mobile devices.
The project is expected to roll out by mid of August when installation of infrastructure and software packages for education are ready. Tablet PC will be delivered to staff in training sessions to be held in August, staff members will be informed of the progress and arrangement by ITU notice.
2. Acrobat Professional for Staff
It is to announce ITU has taken up the initiative for provision of Acrobat Professional for all staff Office PC. The project is under procurement progress and software is expected to be ready on the beginning of new semester (Sem1, 14/15). ITU will contact colleagues for installation when the software is ready.
3. Training materials for Office 365
Two staff training sessions on Office 365 has been conducted by Microsoft trainer on 17 and 25 June. For staff member cannot join the training session, please review training materials provided by Microsoft trainer at http://1drv.ms/1p3AuFR
4. SPSS for Academic Staff
Referring to previous announcement about the general availability of SPSS for academic staff to facilitate academic / research work, it is to announce first batch of application is processed and colleagues will be informed when the software get ready. Future application will be processed on monthly basis and colleagues are welcome to contact ITU helpdesk at x0818 / x0819 or email to pfitoper@cpce-polyu.edu.hk for enquiries over it.
5. ITU Annual Retreat
ITU has carried annual retreat on 20 June. Members of different teams have taken this opportunity to share their update and progress during event. To meet rolling out of mobile teaching project later this fall, ITU has also contacted Education Team of Apple Company (HK) to offer a training course on the use of iPad and creation of ebook.
Members are happy to learn the new development and good practice during retreat.
