1. Reminder: Note to Students Who will Graduate or Leave from SPEED/HKCC

Please note that the following IT services will be terminated after you graduate or leave from SPEED/HKCC:

  • Student Email account
  • Microsoft OneDrive bundled with student email account
  • Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus application (Microsoft Office 2013 / Mac Office 2011) offered via student email account
  • Print quota account
  • Student Notebook Loan Service
  • Campus Wi-Fi service, including Eduroam
  • Moodle
  • Campus PC / my.HKCC / my.SPEED / other systems login
  • Access to Student Computer Centre

Reminder:

  • Please backup data/files from the above systems if you need to keep them before graduation in order to prevent inconvenience and /or data loss.
  • Remaining balance in print quota account is non-refundable and non-transferrable at any time.
  • Should you have outstanding debit note for student notebook payment, you must settle it before graduation.
  • You may consider purchasing the Microsoft products at http://www.microsoftstore.com/ if you wish to continue using them after leaving SPEED/HKCC.

2. CPCE Password Manager Soon to be Launched

The CPCE Password Manager will soon to launch in Feb 2015 to provide a secure and self-service platform for CPCE users to manage his/her login password. The implementation of the Password Manager will be divided into 2 phases:

Phase 1 will be implemented in Feb 2015 including:

  1. Enhancement of the password policy: increase the requirement of minimum password length from 6 to 8 characters.
  2. Creation security questions and answer profile (Q & A): users have to create an Q & A profile to select THREE security questions and provide with the answers in order to perform password reset at the CPCE Password Manager platform.
  3. Password Manager Extension software will be installed on the PC which already jointed the CPCE domain unattended. The purpose of the software will create an icon at the Window Login page to let the user access Password Manger home page easily.

Phase 2 will be implemented in March 2015 to disable password reset feature at Window Login-screen.

3. PC Health Checking and SAM(Staff Only)

ITU is pleased to announce the following IT service enhancement for staff will be carried on coming months, it includes,

PC health checking
As a service enhancement, PC health checking for staff PC is provided. This year service mainly covers staff printer, PC hard disk space and PC performance checking and result will be evaluated for further improvement.

SAM (Software Asset Management)
Similar to previous years, there will SAM exercise for staff on this year. In order to smooth the exercise, ITU shall provide on-site support on SAM and it will be carried during staff email migration, as well as PC health checking in order to shorten the disturbance to staff.

4. Semester 2 IT Mega Sales

Similar to last year, ITU is working on IT Mega Sales for Semester 2. Details of product offering is expected be available in February 2015 and user is advised to follow the announcement of ITU notice in due course.
