1. Deployment of Virtualization Technology at Datacenter

ITU is glad to announce new server infra-structure supporting virtualization technology has started to deploy at data center in CPCE. The existing CPCE servers and systems will be migrated to new platform by phases. The whole deployment and migration process are expected to complete by July 2015.

After completion of the deployment, computing resources can be better utilized for example CPU, memory and storage managed by Virtual Machine (VM) can be shared among different services and applications. Besides, under new server infra-structure, resource is highly scalable and it can be provisioned dynamically to meet future business need.

2. User Guide of Printer and Photocopier (Student Only)

Where can I find the User Guide for printers and photocopiers?
You can find the Quick Guide of them nearby area of photocopier and printer. On the other hand, student is welcome to contact ITU helpdesk at 3746-0818 (HHB) / 3746-0819 (WK) should any help needed for using printer and photocopier.

3. Tip on Mobile Teaching: Using iPad for Video Capturing (Staff Only)

Your iPad supports up to Full HD (1080p) video capturing feature. Please make use of Camera App bundled with iOS for video capturing, as well as third party app if deemed necessary.

For usage of Camera App, user may refer to "Camera" part of iPad User Guide at https://help.apple.com/ipad/8/.

For accessories such as tripod, supporting of video capturing, please approach your unit or contact ITU colleagues supporting your unit for further information.

CPCE Printer

4. Upgrade and Migration to New IP Phone Service (Staff Only)

CPCE will upgrade and migrate its On-premise IP phone system to a new Cloud-based IP phone service in May 2015, this service is provided by Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited (HKBN).

The new IP phone system supports the following features:

  • Voicemail to email
  • HD Voice Quality
  • Built-in speaker for all IP phone models
  • 3-way conference
  • No need to dial '9' when placing external call

Points to note in this migration
  • Tentative start date is 17 May 2015, ITU will inform staff their migration schedule later
  • Your IP phone will temporary out-of-service during the system migration process (should less than one-hour)
  • Your IP phone set will be changed to a new model
  • Your phone number will remain unchanged
  • Your voice messages stored in the old system will not be migrated to new phone system
  • A Quick Manual will be provided to you after replacement of your IP Phone
  • No need to make appointment for replacement of your IP phone set at this moment
