1. Introducing Microsoft Teams - The Chat-Based Workspace in Office 365

It is pleased to announce a new app, Microsoft Teams, is made available in Office 365, Microsoft Teams is a hub for teamwork and new chat-based workspace in Office 365.


Microsoft Teams provides the following features,


  • A team workspace for content, tools, people, and conversations
  • Built-in access to Office Online, SharePoint, OneNote, Planner, PowerBI and Skype for Business
  • Allowing to work on documents right in the app
  • Get rich scheduling features inside Microsoft Teams, plus ad-hoc 1-1 and group calling, video conference
  • Tailoring workspace to access key documents and tools, explore data and get updates from the mobile or desktop apps
  • Supporting notifications and updates from third-party services like Twitter or GitHub

2. Update of IP Phone User Guides (Staff Only)

You can find the latest and new feature of IP phone at CPCE Portal. After login CPCE Portal, click "Using IP Phone" then choose one of the following guides from the "Table of Contents" left-hand side:


  • Broadsoft Phone Directory (New Feature)
  • Call Transfer
  • Remote Call Forwarding
  • Access Voicemail Remotely

3. Energy Saving Measures During Summer and Term Break

Same as last year, in view of the low utilization of computing facilities during summer and term break, ITU would adopt the PolyU's Campus Sustainability Policies and Guidelines and implement the following measures for environmental protection and energy saving purposes during the summer and term break in the campuses:


Express Printing Area
Nearly 80% of PCs in Express Printing Area are turned off while students can use the rest of PCs to access to campus network and submit the print job.




Student Computer Centre
For Student Computer Centres, a dedicated zone is closed for energy saving purpose. Student may refer the following map for closed area.
