1. Congratulations to Dr. Jason Chan on Being Appointed as Justice of the Peace (太平紳士)

We extend our warmest congratulations to Head of Information Technology, Dr. Jason Chan on his appointment as Justice of the Peace (太平紳士) by the Chief Executive. The appointment is a well-deserved recognition of his distinguished public services to Hong Kong, including his significant contributions in his profession over the years.



2. Check and Delete Your Voicemail Regularly (Staff Only)

Please check and erase unwanted voicemails regularly so that you can free up the memory for the new incoming voicemail.


How to access and listen to my voicemail remotely?


  1. Dial 3565-1234;
  2. Press "*" key;
  3. Enter 8 digits Tel. no. (i.e. 3746XXXX) as the mailbox ID and follow by a "#" key; (XXXX is your extension number)
  4. Enter recent password and follow by a "#" key;
  5. Press "1" to access voicemail;

How to delete voicemail?
You can delete your voicemail via IP phone or dial 3565 1234 then follow the voice instruction to do so.


To delete the voicemail via IP phone, please press button access to voicemail system -> press "1" - Access Voice Messaging > "7" - Delete All Messages > "1" - Confirm to delete all messages.


Please note deletion of your voice messages received in the staff email will not delete its original copy in IP Phone system and cannot free up the memory.

3. MobileOffice App for IP Phone Service (Staff Only)

MobileOffice is a mobile App developed by HKBN, our IP phone service provider to enable users to take their office number on the go with their smartphone. Through this App, you can receive and make calls displaying your office phone number over your existing cellular service.




Features include:

  • Simultaneously ring on desk phone and mobile phone
  • Make call displaying office number
  • Move call between desk phone and mobile phone
  • Set or check forwarding of your office number
  • Staff phone directory
  • Check call history of office number

4. Replacement of Turnitin™ V1 with V2 on Moodle

In September 2017, Turnitin Version 1 will be phased out and only Version 2 will be available for use on Moodle.


Below lists the strength of Turnitin Version 2:


  • Support new Turnitin Feedback Studio, which allows instructors to view the Originality Report and GradeMark results at the same time as well as toggle filters for the Originality Report off and on.
  • Introduce with much user-friendly user interface.
  • Provide much reliable connection with Turnitin server.
  • Streamline the workflow in creating a Turnitin activity.

Training on Turnitin Version 2 will be available in the coming August and September, details will be announced in due course.

5. Reminder: Note to Students Who Will Graduate or Leave From HKCC / SPEED

Please note that the following IT services will be terminated after you graduate or leave from HKCC / SPEED:


  • Student email account
  • Microsoft OneDrive bundled with student email account
  • Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus applications (Microsoft Office / Mac Office) offered via student email account
  • Print quota account
  • Student Notebook Loan Service
  • Campus Wi-Fi service, including Eduroam
  • Moodle
  • Campus PC / my.HKCC / my.SPEED / other systems login
  • Access to Student Computer Centre

Reminder:


  • Please backup data/files from the above systems if you need to keep them before graduation in order to prevent inconvenience and /or data loss.
  • Remaining balance in print quota account is non-refundable and non-transferrable at any time.
  • Should you have outstanding debit note for student notebook payment, you must settle it before graduation.

You may consider purchasing the Microsoft products at http://www.microsoftstore.com.hk/ if you wish to continue using them after leaving HKCC / SPEED.

6. Result Announcement: Lucky Draw Winners of "Survey on IT Services"

ITU has conducted "Survey on IT Services" for staff and students from April to June 2017. We have received a favourable response of over 600 responses. Users' feedback provides us a solid ground to improve our services continuously. To show our gratitude, students who completed the survey entered the lucky draw automatically.

The lucky winner who has won the grand prize of iPad (32GB Wi-Fi) and $100 Gift Certificates of The Commercial Press (Hong Kong) Limited is Miss Cheng Cho Yan from HKCC. On top of this, the other 21 students have won themselves a $100 Gift Certificates of The Commercial Press (Hong Kong) Limited.


Dr. Jason Chan, JP , Head of Information Technology, presented the prize to the winner on 21 July 2017.
