1. ITU Staff Honoured by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd

Congratulations to Mr. John Cheung, IT Manager of ITU, who received Huawei's Product Documentation Advisory Committee (PDAC) Contribution Award 2017.

4. Microsoft OWA Mobile Apps will be Retired

The Microsoft OWA mobile apps, OWA for iPhone, OWA for iPad, and OWA for Android, will be retired as of May 15, 2018.

In April 2018, OWA for iPhone, OWA for iPad, and OWA for Android will be removed from the Apple's iTunes app store and the Google Play Store. If you're using the OWA mobile apps and Office 365, you'll see a recurring in-app message notifying you when the app will be retired. You'll be offered a link to download Outlook for iOS or Outlook for Android from the app stores.

On May 15, 2018, the OWA mobile apps will stop working. Users try to open the OWA mobile apps will be greeted with a message and a link to download Outlook for iOS or Outlook for Android.

5. Turnitin Tips

1. Can students submit papers after the Due Date?
It depends on the setting "Allow Submissions after the Due Date". If set to Yes, a student who has not previously made a submission will be able to submit paper once; If set to No, all students will be blocked from submitting papers after the due date. However, allow late submission is not applicable to re-submissions. Students CANNOT overwrite submissions after the due date, even if the late submission option is enabled.


2. When a student make a re-submission, will the current paper check against previous submitted paper?
For re-submission to the same part of the same Turnitin Assignment, only the current paper will be kept. Previous submitted paper is overwritten and no longer stored in the Turnitin Database.


3. How can teachers delete submitted papers from the Turnitin Database?
Make re-submissions by uploading dummy papers, the previous submitted papers will be overwritten and removed from the Turnitin Database. "Delete Button" in the Submission Inbox could only remove the linkage of papers and the submissions list, but DO NOT completely remove from the Turnitin Database. Please DO NOT remove papers in the submission inbox.


4. What will happen if a student submit two similar papers to two Turnitin Assignments in the same Moodle class?
Those two submissions will NOT check against with each other (The paper will be excluded as Matched Sources by default).
In another situation, similar papers submitted to different Moodle classes will check against with each other, even if the papers were submitted by the same account and to the same instructor.
