1. Tips in Mobile Teaching: Turn Your Keyboard into a Trackpad in Your iPad

A feature turning your keyboard into a trackpad to move the cursor to the desired place or highlight text with ease is available for iPad. (Please update your iOS version to 12 to use the feature).


To access the feature, please long press spacebar in on-screen keyboard. The keyboard will become a trackpad which user can move the cursor to your desired location.


There are 2 reference use cases for the feature,

  1. Correct / change website address in Safari : User can press space bar with one finger and move to left or right and make change correctly

  2. Highlight text in Word : Move to desired text / location and long press space bar with two fingers, then move left or right to highlight desired content

2. Temporarily Closed of Language Lab for PC Upgrade Exercise

User is drawn attention about upcoming PC upgrade exercise in HHB and WK Language Labs,

Above laboratories will be closed according to their schedule for PC upgrade.


On language lab software, M-Plus, compatibility issue, only Student PC will be upgraded in this round and Windows 10 will be deployed to student PC on upgrading. Teacher PC will remain existing PC and Windows (Windows 7) pending software update from M-Plus. Tentatively schedule for Language Lab Teacher PC upgrade will be in summer 2019.

3. Reminder: Note to Students Who Will Graduate or Leave From HKCC / SPEED

Please note that the following IT services will be terminated after you graduate or leave from HKCC / SPEED:

  • Student email account

  • Microsoft OneDrive bundled with student email account

  • Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus applications (Microsoft Office / Mac Office) offered via student email account

  • Print quota account

  • Student Notebook Loan Service

  • Campus Wi-Fi service, including Eduroam

  • Moodle

  • Campus PC / my.HKCC / my.SPEED / other systems login

  • Access to Student Computer Centre


Reminder:

  • Please backup data/files from the above systems if you need to keep them before graduation in order to prevent inconvenience and /or data loss.

  • Remaining balance in print quota account is non-refundable and non-transferrable at any time.

  • Should you have outstanding debit note for student notebook payment, you must settle it before graduation.

  • You may consider purchasing the Microsoft products at Microsoft Store if you wish to continue using them after leaving HKCC / SPEED.

  • You are also recommended to observe email announcement from PolyU Alumni Affairs and Development Office about the provision of lifelong PolyU alumni email account and Onedrive online storage.
