1. CPCE IT Mega Sales 2019

ITU is pleased to announce there are 6 brands available in CPCE IT Mega Sales 2019, including Apple, Acer, Dell, Lenovo, HP and Microsoft. Interested student and staff can visit IT Mega Sales page inside CPCE portal for offering details

2. CPCE Mobile App Version 2

ITU is pleased to recommend staff and students to download the CPCE Mobile App to receive the fastest and latest information from college. This Intranet based App provides access to variety of information about College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE), Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) and School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED). It is developed to keep our students and staff connected with CPCE at anytime, anywhere. We will continue to develop this app to improve your browsing experience and provide you with more useful information.

3. Campus PC and AV Upgrade in Summer Period

ITU is pleased to announce a series of campus PC and AV upgrade tasks will be completed by this summer.


Upgrade to Windows 10 and new PC

  • Student Computer Centre in HHB & WK campus
  • Classrooms & Lecture Theatres in HHB & WK campus
  • IT Labs in WK campus
  • IT Lab in HHB-1207
  • Meeting Room in HHB & WK campus

Upgrade of Touch Screen Monitor

  • All teaching venues (narrow bezel Touch Screen monitor)

AV Upgrade

  • Replacement of projector for WK classrooms, Lab, and Lecture theatre
  • Replacement of Gooseneck microphone to Desktop Microphone at WK 8/F

4. Macbook Air with Retina Display Available for Student Loaning

ITU is pleased to announce a batch of Macbook Airs bundled with Adobe CC software will be ready for student loaning at Student Computer Centres in the first semester, 2019/20. Interested students please approach student notebook loan counter at Student Computer Centre in the third week of semester one, 2019/20.

5. Update of Adobe CC 2019

ITU is pleased to announce that Adobe CC in Campus PC, e.g., student notebook, Mac Corner, IT lab, has been upgraded to Adobe CC 2019 this summer.

According to the new requirement of Adobe CC 2019, an Adobe ID is required for user to login and access Adobe CC. Please remember to set up your Adobe ID first if you plan to use Adobe CC software in CPCE.

6. Phasing Out of Personal SharePoint Service (Staff Only)

Please be informed that the staff Personal SharePoint service ( https://cp.cpce-polyu.edu.hk ) will be phased out by 31 Dec 2019 for the following reasons:


  1. End of support by Microsoft
  2. Disabled of Transport Layer Security(TSL) 1.0 and 1.1 protocol
  3. Functions and features are outdated

Please note the action plan below if you are using the staff Personal SharePoint service:

Actions to be taken by users:


  • Check you have stored the files or data under the Document, List or other Library on the Personal SharePoint platform.
  • Attached user guide for you to prepare the migration.
  • Select the appropriate platform (e.g. OneDrive) to replace the Personal SharePoint or consult ITU user support team for advice.
  • Plan how to move, export and migrate the files or data to other platforms.
  • Start to move, export or migrate the file or data to a suitable platform between Sept – Nov 2019 by yourself, set up the permission on that platform if the files require to share with colleagues.
  • Ensure all the files and data are successfully moved, exported and migrated to other platforms. Delete the files and empty the Recycle Bin in your Personal SharePoint service before Dec 2019.

7. New Features of Moodle

ITU is pleased to introduce the following new features at Moodle E-Learning system.


Assignment Due Reminder

Teachers can set a notification to remind students about the assignment deadline. The student will receive a consolidated email to remind him/ her to submit the assignment(s) on time. You may find details here.


Annotated PDF

The PDF annotator allows teachers to insert questions, comments and remarks on PDF assignment directly. Student can read the comments and remark at his/her own assignment, allow them to understand the teachers advise and feedback more intuitively. You may find details here.


Scheduler

The Scheduler module helps you in scheduling appointments with your students. Teachers can specify time slots for meetings, students then choose one of them on Moodle. This module can also help teachers to keep the record for the ad hoc meeting too. You may find details here.

8. CPCE SSL VPN for Staff (Staff only)

CPCE SSL VPN Service is for staff to access internal resource from off-campus securely. This service uses two-factor authentication method. User gets a one-time password token generated by a mobile app that pre-installed on their mobile device for a secure login process. Staff may apply and get more information at CPCE Staff SSL VPN (Virtual Private Network) Service inside CPCE Portal for details.


9. ITU Staff Honoured by Huawei Technologies

Congratulations to Mr John Cheung, IT Manager of ITU, who is honoured by Huawei Technologies for his voluntary contribution to Huawei production documentation and selected for Huawei’s PDAC contribution Award 2018.
