1. How to Check Sharing of Class Video (Staff Only)

[This method is only applicable to class video in @common account]

In case you receive student’s report that he/she cannot access your class video, please follow steps below to check if the student is granted permission to the video

1. Login Your account in OneDrive via webmail
2. Enter “Recordings” folder >click “3 dots” of the video you need to check
3. Click “Manage access”



4. Click “Advanced” on right menu



5. Click Check Permissions >type in student ID and press “check now” button



6. If the student access right is ‘None’, please go back to onedrive and add student to share list

2. IT Security Tips When Using Notebook

There are following suggestions when using notebook computer

1. Setup Login password
User is suggested to setup password in notebook which prevents unauthorized access of user data in case data lost

How to setup login password
Windows : Windows sign-in options and account protection (microsoft.com)
Mac OS : Change the login password on Mac - Apple Support (HK)

2. Enable data encryption
Enabling data encryption can further prevent unauthorized access of user data even notebook storage (HDD / SSD) is taken for attempt

Windows (Pro / Enterprise only) : Turn on device encryption (microsoft.com)
Mac OS : Encrypt Mac data with FileVault - Apple Support (HK)

3. Do not store sensitive information in notebook
Do not store sensitive information, e.g., personal information, account password, in notebook which minimizes the impact on data leakage incident (if the device is accessed by others)

3. Microsoft Software Requirement Update

Dis-support of Outlook 2010
On Microsoft announcement, Outlook 2010 is no longer supported for connecting email server. ITU has informed related staff if their office PC are still using Office 2010. For user who still uses Office 2010 in home PC / notebook computer, please refer to the following link for steps to upgrade to Microsoft 365 (latest version of MS office) ITU Touch Base Newsletter (cpce-polyu.edu.hk). Onedrive sync client dis-support of Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1
On Microsoft announcement, onedrive sync client (software to connect onedrive) will stop function on 1 March 2022. User of above Windows versions have to access onedrive using browser instead.

Retiring Teams mobile support for devices running on Android 5, 6 and 7
Microsoft will be retiring the Teams mobile support on Android version 5, 6 and 7.

4. 3D Printing Models by Students

We are pleased to share some good design models by students after attending 3D printing workshop organised by ITU in September 2021. The models are created by free software, ZBrush Core Mini, and printed out by Stratasys F370 3D printer in our 3D printing room.
